What the National Notary Coalition does.

Notary Watch™ is NNC's independent reporting and transparency initiative. It gives notaries a way to anonymously report incidents involving companies they encounter through their work.

Those reports contribute to aggregate data and reporting patterns. A report is information submitted by a user, not an independent finding by NNC.

NNC researches issues affecting independent notaries using sources that may include:

• Aggregate Notary Watch reporting patterns
• Publicly available business records
• Government, regulatory, and other public records
• Documented transaction information
• Company policies and publicly available terms
• Other authoritative sources

NNC distinguishes between information reported by users, information documented through public or authoritative sources, and NNC analysis and research. NNC does not independently verify every Notary Watch incident, and research in progress is not presented as a finding of wrongdoing.

Completed research and reporting are published through News & Research.

When reporting patterns or research warrant additional attention, NNC may contact businesses or other parties identified in connection with reported transactions to request information, clarification, or a response.

This may include relevant businesses or organizations connected with reported assignments. Being contacted by NNC does not establish wrongdoing or liability, and not every Notary Watch report results in outreach.

NNC may use documented research, aggregate reporting patterns, public records, outreach activity, and authoritative sources to support public education, industry awareness, public reporting, and advocacy.

When warranted, that work may also support appropriate regulatory or governmental outreach. NNC is not a regulator and does not exercise regulatory authority; its advocacy is responsible and evidence-based.
